Imposing additional tariffs on certain imported goods origin
2025-06-12 17:44
On March 3, 2025, the U.S. government announced an additional 10% tariff on all Chinese exports to the United States, citing fentanyl concerns. The unilateral imposition of tariffs by the U.S. undermines the multilateral trading system, exacerbates burdens on American businesses and consumers, and destabilizes the foundation of China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation.
In accordance with the Customs Law of the People's Republic of China, the Foreign Trade Law of the People's Republic of China, and international legal principles, and with the approval of the State Council, additional tariffs will be imposed on selected U.S.-origin imported goods starting March 10, 2025. Key provisions are as follows:
1. 15% additional tariffs on chicken, wheat, corn, and cotton (specific product scope detailed in Attachment 1).
2. 10% additional tariffs on sorghum, soybeans, pork, beef, aquatic products, fruits, vegetables, and dairy products (specific product scope detailed in Attachment 2).
3. The additional tariffs will be applied on top of existing tariff rates, with current bonded and tax exemption policies remaining unchanged. No exemptions will be granted for these new tariffs.
4. Goods shipped before March 10, 2025, and imported between March 10 and April 12, 2025, will not be subject to the additional tariffs.
